Why Everyone Is Talking About Nervous System Regulation (And What They’re Getting Wrong)
If you’ve been on social media lately, you’ve probably seen it everywhere — nervous system regulation. It’s trending on TikTok, flooding wellness blogs, and showing up in morning routine reels. And honestly? I’m glad the world is finally paying attention.
But here’s the thing: most of what’s being shared is surface-level. And surface-level fixes don’t heal deep-rooted dysregulation.
So let’s go deeper. Because this is my world, and I want to give you the real story.
Your Nervous System Is Running the Show
Here’s what most people don’t realize: your nervous system isn’t just reacting to your life… It’s creating it.
Every relationship you attract, every decision you make, every health symptom you experience, every amount of money you allow yourself to receive, all run through the filter of your nervous system. When it’s dysregulated, you stay stuck in survival mode: anxious, exhausted, reactive, and disconnected from your purpose.
Sound familiar?

The science backs this up. Chronic stress keeps your body flooded with cortisol, which suppresses your immune system, disrupts your gut microbiome, clouds your thinking, and literally shrinks the prefrontal cortex — the part of your brain responsible for decision-making, emotional regulation, and creativity. You cannot think, lead, love, or heal from a dysregulated nervous system. Period.
The Problem With the “Aesthetic Wellness” Trend
Here’s where I have to be honest with you. A lot of what’s going viral right now — the ice baths, the breathwork reels, the “soft life” aesthetics — they’re not wrong, but they’re incomplete (I mean I have a business that has ice baths and cryotherapy, so I am not against it, but we need to go deeper!).
Regulation isn’t a vibe. It’s not a morning routine you do for a week and then abandon. And it’s definitely not something you can buy in a pretty package.
True nervous system regulation requires you to address the root causes of dysregulation, and in my two decades of working with clients, I’ve found three that show up almost every single time:
- Unresolved emotional trauma and limiting beliefs stored in the body
- Gut health imbalances (your gut and brain are in constant communication… this is not optional)
- Mindset patterns that keep your brain locked in a threat response
You can ice bath every morning and still be running a subconscious program of fear, unworthiness, or chronic people-pleasing. That’s not regulation… that’s coping.
What Actually Works
I’ve helped hundreds of clients regulate their nervous systems, not just for a moment, but for life. Here’s what moves the needle beyond the biohacks:
1. Rewire the belief, not just the breath. Breathwork is powerful! I use it with clients and myself. But if you’re breathing through a body that still believes it’s unsafe, unloved, or unworthy, you’re managing symptoms. We need to go upstream and reprogram the belief driving the dysregulation. This is exactly what my 6 R’s Success Rewire Method™ is designed to do.
2. Heal your gut to heal your brain. The gut-brain axis is real, and it’s profound. About 90% of your serotonin — your “feel good” neurotransmitter — is produced in your gut. If your gut is inflamed, your brain is inflamed. If your digestion is off, your mood, focus, and stress resilience are off, too. This is why I formulated supplements like CALM YOU™ and BLOATLESS YOU — because you cannot regulate a nervous system that’s running on a depleted, inflamed gut.
3. Use your body as medicine. Your inner pharmacy™ is real. Every thought you think, every breath you take, every food you eat, releases chemistry that either supports regulation or drives dysregulation. Dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, GABA — these are your natural regulators, and you have more influence over them than you think. Movement, sunlight, connection, purpose, and sleep are not “nice to haves” — they are prescriptions.
4. Stop performing wellness. Start embodying it. The most regulated people I know aren’t the ones with the most elaborate routines. They’re the ones who have done the inner work — who have healed their relationship with themselves, set real boundaries, and stopped outsourcing their peace to external circumstances.
You Were Designed to Feel Safe
Here’s the truth I want to leave you with: your nervous system dysregulation is not a character flaw. It’s a response — often a very intelligent one — to experiences that taught your body it wasn’t safe to fully relax, trust, or open up.
But that story can be rewritten. Your brain is neuroplastic — meaning it can literally rewire itself at any age, at any stage of life. I’ve seen it happen hundreds of times. I’ve lived it myself.
You were designed to feel safe. To feel calm. To feel whole.
And that extraordinary version of you? She’s not far away. She’s just waiting for you to do the real work to bring her forward.
